Cybersecurity Act of 2009 a Test in Presidential Power

If it isn't health care reform, it's something else. Now it comes in the form of the Cybersecurity Act of 2009, or S.773.
"The President - (2)may declare a cybersecurity emergency and order the limitation or shutdown of Internet traffic to and from any compromised Federal Government or United States critical infrastructure information system or network;"
Some will see this as a non-issue. Others feel that it is a total violation on their freedoms. Those who seem most bothered by it, feel the President is creating too much power.

However, the President is doing his hardest to stimulate the job market with anything and everything he can get his hands on. Yes, even with the Cybersecurity Act of 2009 he will try to create jobs. On page 41 the bill says:

"Within 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the President, or the President's designee, shall report to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and the House of Representatives Committee on Science and Technology of the feasibility of- (1)creating a market for cybersecurity risk management, including the creation of a system of civil liability and insurance (including government reinsurance)"
One decent thing in the bill overshadowed by the extended power of the President if this passes. While the debate over health care reform is still so rampant, there is great attention that should be paid to the other bills that surface during the debate.

Bill Clinton Visits North Korea

In a surprise trip to North Korea, former President Bill Clinton visited Kim Jong Il in an attempt to bring home Laura Ling and Euna Lee, two American journalists being detained.


Touted by many as an 'international rock-star,' Clinton was the choice in thise secret mission. Okayed by the Obama Administration, his visit is important in so many ways.

Not only to bring home the two American Current TV journalists, Clinton's visit is a testing ground to dialogue on numerous future talks between North Korea and the United States. Nuclear disarmament would be among the biggest concern.

Clinton's reception was greeted warmly, with the two talking over dinner.

However, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, "I think we're obviously talking about something that's extremely sensitive."

Gibbs also stated, "We will have more to say on this hopefully later on."

I have talked about this but only once before, but five years ago my mother passed away of breast cancer that migrated into her bones. Her struggle went on for a total of nine years. Doctors were permitted to perform many, many tests and actions to either help aid in the removal of the cancers or the removal of her pain. It is my personal fear that under the health care reform plan President Obama is attempting to rush through, would not allow these freedoms for anyone given a difficult test to life.

The Fourth of July; Cause for Celebration

More than a special day set aside for family bar-b-que dinners, and more than a day full of fireworks, but a day of reflection and celebration of a nation commemorating the immense faith and courage from the Founding Fathers in pursuit of something greater, a declaration for independence.



Standing the tests of time to date, the Declaration of Independence continues to invoke a certain passion in the people of America.

Ask someone to start reciting, and they start with, "We hole these truths to be . . ." As important as it is to know what the Declaration of Independence is, it is equally important to know how it truely starts out. That is where the document reaches its climax, and drives home an intimate sense of passion.

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

So, when you sit down at the table and start passing around the ribs and baked beans, take an extra second to think about what the Fourth of July is, a cause for celebration.

However late as it may be, and however difficult it is to read and understand - because almost all who voted for and against it haven't and don't - President Obama looks to approve this Stimulus package and sign it into play on Tuesday, Feb. 17 of 2009.

We Surround Them, Glenn Beck's Call To Serve

Recently, Glenn Beck posed a question that isn't so alarming in itself, but it was posed to see just how alarmed Americans are and how willing they are to act and be heard.

Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it?

That is one of the problems that plagues many people, in that they do feel powerless. They feel that their voice will never be heard, and that their country is being stolen from them. They feel that there is nothing they can do about it.

1.America is good.
2.I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3.I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4.The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5.If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6.I have a right to Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7.I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8.It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9.The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.



Then he asked that if you agree with at least seven of these principles, then he wants you to know that you are not alone. Well, that was just the first step. Step two was to introduce what Glenn refers to as “The Twelve Values.”

It isn't enough to list out these principles and values, just in the hopes of creating a stir. These principles and values encompass what being a conservative is. These fit into each other, not only for the sake of right now, but as history is understood in the founding documents of America. These principles and virtues have helped shape this nation, or for some the lack there of.

In Common Sense, Thomas Paine says, “The elected might never form to themselves an interest separate from the electors.” Trying as it sounds, that is where our nation has been led over the past days, weeks, months if not years. Those elected are seamlessly operating for the benefit of themselves and themselves only, while the electors are screaming to be heard.

Thomas Paine also said, “The strength of government depends on the happiness of the governed.” And how true that is, not only for his time, but for ours too. Our time shapes tomorrows time, and with the unhappiness of today, it doesn't look all that hopeful based on all the displeasure. Americans are growing more and more frustrated, and are continuing to distance themselves from the elected.

An International Crisis? - Part 2

During the U.S. election process, Joe Biden made that statement that President-elect Barack Obama would be tested with an international crisis, opening the door for nations to cause strife throughout the world. In time since that comment, Israel was forced to defend themselves against radical terrorists and Russia closed off gas lines that transported vital gas to other countries. However, there have been some – including China, North Korea and Iran – who have not begun their tests.

The model Iran may follow is China, which pursues a policy best described by Jeffrey Lewis and others as “minimum deterrence.” Apart from fielding the largest army in the world, China maintains perhaps 200 nuclear weapons and declares a no-first-use policy. China enjoys a level of respect and consideration Iran's leaders have never enjoyed, but to which the logically aspire.


Certainly this concept of “minimum deterrence” could be Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad's agenda for his country. As proud and as ancient the nation of Iran is, they have continued to be a subject of Western meddling.[2] In so much that, during the election process, Obama made clear he would be willing to negotiate without preconditions with the Iranian government over its nuclear ambitions.[3] Certainly, this communication would be an understanding that a nuclear possessing Iran would be to avoid conflict through deterrence.

As far as communication to this point, Iran has been able to communicate one thing: They are within 6 months to a year from obtaining enough enriched uranium for nuclear weaponry.[4]

How has Iran obtained fuel for their uranium enrichment program?

Mr. Roberts at YaleGlobal says[5]:

The fuel for its first nuclear reactor at Bushehr [was] provided by Russia, with a requirement that spent fuel, full of weapons-usable plutonium, will be returned to Russia. Plans for future reactor construction are well in the distance. So the non-bomb uranium Iran has produced to date has no purpose besides that of a nuclear “breakout” option: kick out the inspectors, run the uranium through the centrifuges several more times, work on missiles and other delivery means, and finish up with a couple of bombs.


With Iran diligently working toward acquiring enough enriched uranium, and a newly elected Barack Obama, communication lines seem more important than ever before. As Iran looks to be the most important problem the Administration faces, the people of Iran are communicating one thing: They want international integration rather than isolation.[6]

As the culture of Iran feels threatened by globalization, one way to open talks with Iran would be to provide external assistance to drive reform internally.[7] Diplomatically speaking, this approach would put much needed pressure on Iran from within. As Reagan was influential in bringing down the wall, Obama could bring a voice to the people of Iran that they have never experienced before. Iranians need greater opportunity to interact with the international community, as history has shown that people-to-people exchanges have served as the backbone of the promotion of democracy.[8]

If Iran was to adopt a more democratic society, its influential stance in the Middle East would be heightened beyond measure and would be on a more equal playing field with larger nations such as Russia, China and the United States. These nations have gained super status, not by making unattainable sanctions, but by taking a step-by-step approach. By attaining a higher position, Iran must also adopt a give-and-take approach.

In a give-and-take step-by-step take on things, this is not by any means an answer to all the problems that Iran and the U.S. may encounter, but a more diplomatic way of things. Far too many people forget that the people of Iran are the ones affected. A major level of success for the incoming Administration, like the Reagan Administration, must take firm but diplomatic approach.

Style of Attack in Mumbai Mob-like

As the phone transcripts of the attacks in Mumbai are released, it offers grim reality of a mob-like movie hit as instructions ring loud on both ends.

“There are three ministers and one secretary of the cabinet in your hotel. We don't know in which room,” the handler told a gunman inside the Taj Mahal hotel at 3:10 am on the first night of the attack.

“Oh! That is good news. It is icing on the cake!” the gunman said.


While in the Jewish center, as directed by the handler, the message was “If you are still threatened, then don't saddle yourself with the burden of the hostages. Immediately kill them.”

As the handlers seemed to spur more attacks, citing to “be strong in the name of Allah,” they later instructed them to keep fighting as it “is a matter of prestige of Islam.”

However, the most disturbing realization the attackers were not acting alone was when the handler said during the attacks, “Keep your phone switched on so that we can hear the gunfire.”

Israel Pressured To Stop Assault by U.N.

As civilian deaths rise by Israeli attacks on Hamas, the United Nations continues to put pressure on Israel to halt further attacks and reach ceasefire agreement.

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and French President Nicolas Sarkozy made the move at a joint news conference. [However] There was no immediate response from Israel or from Hamas.


This comes as the fourth day of a ground assault, now making 11 days of fighting, has deaths reaching over 600 and those wounded to more than 2,700.

Hub of Hollywood Conservatives Now Have Outlet

It is well known that most of those in Hollywood are more Liberal leaning than they are Conservative, but with the introduction of a new hub may start to change how Hollywood is viewed.

Breitbart has invited a number of conservative politicians, commentators and journalists to write regularly about the cult of celebrity, liberalism in popular culture, and politics.

But Breitbart says the goal of Big Hollywood is not to “out” conservative celebrities, and he will not pressure celebrities to jump into the fray. He says conservative celebs who aren't comfortable will full transparency will be allowed to write under and alias.


As Big Hollywood launches, there is somewhat a level of fear and trepidation among conservative celebrities. Also, some are worried that there will be a literal blacklist and pressure will increase in order for them to stay quiet.
